After 31 years of marriage, Sarah Palin and her husband Todd are getting divorced. Todd filed for divorce from the former governor of Alaska and Republican vice-presidential candidate, citing "incompatibility of temperament" that makes it "impossible to live together as husband and wife."

According to Anchorage Daily News, the filing only uses the couple's initials but lists the date of their marriage and the birthdate of their 11-year-old son, Trig. Todd filed the paperwork with the Anchorage Superior Court on August 29, just eight days after their wedding anniversary.

The couple was married in 1988 and has four adult children in addition to Trig, who has Down syndrome. In the filing, Todd requested joint custody of Trig and to split their assets down the middle.
