The FED Holds 1st Virtual Press Conference Of New Year

The FED holding a virtual briefing at 2 o'clock this afternoon after its first meeting of the year. Bankrate's Greg McBride says the U-S is still in troubled economic waters, even with the COVID-19 vaccine roll out. He says coronavirus cases and unemployment are spiking, and businesses are failing as lockdowns continue in some states outside of Florida. The recent 600-dollar stimulus is helping, but not enough. There's still pressure on Uncle Sam for another dole out. He expects interest rates to remain at record lows, so now's the time to refinance. Economists do predict high inflation, but McBride doesn't think we will see it this year because unemployment is still sky high.
