Florida Will Follow Recommendation To Pause Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Use

People are being turned away from the federal mass vaccination sites in Miami, Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonivlle and satellite sites that were set to offer the one-and-done Johnson & Johnson shot.

This after the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a joint statement saying "out of abundance caution" they were recommending a pause, as they investigate six cases of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis occurring six to 13 days after they received the shot.

Governor Ron DeSantis say the state will follow the recommendation, but he stresses this is just a move being made out of an abundance of caution.

He made the comments during a press conference about the future of the Piney Point phosphate plant.

The state run sites that offer the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines are not affected.
