The Federal Reserve making an announcement on interest rates this afternoon after two days of meetings. Bankrate's Greg McBride expects rates to remain near zero for at least another 18 months, but he says the COVID and inflation surge could keep rates low even longer than that. He says now is the time to refinance if you haven't yet, since rates are near record lows. Rates are expected to rise when the FEDS dial back on bond purchases.
