There are too many amendments to Florida's Constitution on the ballot this November. And while I admire the hard work of the Florida Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) what they did is just wrong and it could hurt the state.
Instead of paring down the size of our government and constitution (three-four times bigger than the U.S. Constitution), if the CRC's amendments pass it will grow government. Additionally, some of the CRC additions to the ballot are two subject initiatives which is just plain wrong.
You could reasonably argue most of these amendments - some from the CRC, some from legislators, some from citizens - have no business being in the constitution at all. The fact is...the amendments are there (at least until some are kicked off by the State Supreme Court) and you need to know something about them,
In today's visit, Dr. Ed Moore and I discuss the process and the first five on the ballot. We'll tackle the rest next month.
