Let's face it, there are a lot of things which can get you discouraged...if you let them.
I have to work to keep an attitude of gratitude when I read and cover many of the stories which make up a normal Morning Show broadcast. It comes with the territory to be sure, but it still can get a little overwhelming.
Over the years I have been asked why I don't just do good news, happier stories.
It's not so simple. First, try finding them. They're out there, but tough to find and not enough to build a daily three hour show around and second, we still need the news which is news for a reason...it's often not very good, yet still needs to be known. Third, and this just is what it is, most people do not want to listen to just happy stories. They want them, just not a steady diet of them.
Is it because we are subconsciously concerned we will become desensitized to them and thus not be moved by them anymore?
Perhaps.
However, once a week (sometimes more) I get to push the rest aside and share good news and focus on something which warms the heart and brings a smile...often a tear or two.
