Florida State Football 2021 Garnet & Gold Game

I have been on the record since day one - Mike Norvell was and is the right guy for FSU football. His resume indicates it and the way he handled one of the worst, most difficult first years ever convinces me even more.

2021 is year two and Norvell did not have COVID-19 ruin Spring drills and the annual Garnet and Gold game like last year. Additionally, the players who did not embrace the new coach are gone. All of them. I wish them well, but it was clear Coach Norvell had some cancers on last year's squad.

Not only does he have buy-in this season, he has transfers who come to FSU knowing full good and well the program is rebuilding. Leading the class of transfers is McKenzie Milton. It's tough to put into context how special he was at Central Florida before a horrendous right leg injury nearly ended his career.

Nearly.

He has one year left and he is competing for the QB job at FSU after tranferring into Tallahassee. My bet is he will win the job over Jordan Travis giving last year's game quarterback one more year to develop before taking the reins for two seasons. I think Travis will be on the field in 2021 (he's too dangerous on offense not to be), but he can learn and strengthen his arm strength and accuracy as Milton provides the senior leadership at signal caller the team needs for one season.

Check out Milton's Spring Game highlights and Coach Norvell's post game presser.
